Welcome to the Colorado Off-Leash Dog Association

Welcome to the COLDA website!  COLDA is a Colorado 501(c)3 non-profit corporation started in Spring 2009 in response to the Colorado State Parks plans to severely restrict the use of the off leash areas at Chatfield and Cherry Creek State Parks.

As we came to know more and more off leash enthusiasts in Colorado, COLDA’s mission expanded to promote the cooperative development of quality off leash areas across the State for the common benefit of all responsible dog owners.

In my lifetime, imposition of leash laws have drastically changed the lives of our dogs and virtually eliminated our right to enjoy a simple off leash walk with them.  For hunters and sporting dog competitors, opportunities to appropriately exercise their dogs are severely restricted.

Our goals are to facilitate the development of a range of off leash areas from small neighborhood facilities to large unfenced regional facilities across the state.  Off leash dog walking has many benefits for the mental and physical well-being of dogs and their owners who share a common understanding of canine behavior proper education and have a shared dedication to public education about responsible off leash activities.

Please browse through our website and join us in developing these critically needed off leash facilities.  Please join COLDA and become an active voice for off leash activities within the state.
