COLDA Volunteer Opportunities
Do you love to walk off leash with your dog? Would you like to know where off leash opportunities are? Would you like to see more varied off leash opportunities? Are you frustrated with the latest round of Park Board decisions regarding Chatfield and Cherry Creek off leash areas?
Are you willing to take action along side the team of committed volunteers tackling the work of keeping and increasing the size, quality and number of off leash areas in Colorado? COLDA is looking for individuals who can provide assistance and/or expertise in this labor of love for the following positions. Individuals must work well in a team environment, and have the ability to self start and work independently.
Off Leash Dog Area Advocates
Need volunteers to support COLDA initiatives, including but not limited to distributing information and flyers, collect signatures on petitions, attend picket lines, Park Board, City Council and County Commissioner meetings and the like.
Communications Program Director
Looking for individuals with experience and demonstrated ability to lead the establishment, content development and implementation of an external communications program for the community, COLDA “clients”, and relevant trade and/or government entities, including the COLDA mailing list and members, Off-leash area users, Park staff, Park Board, ACE, and other relevant government agencies and employees as required. Develop and implement effective communication strategies, methods, content and timelines. Develop, and advise the COLDA Board regarding communications status, plans, objectives, deployment strategies Identify and recommend solutions to problems arising. Maintain tactical responsibility for effective communications distribution, coordinate activities, track progress and inform the COLDA Board and relevant stakeholders.
Campaign management
Need experienced individual to formulate campaigns and related activities that enhance the organization's relations with the community, the public, governmental and regulatory authorities publicly promote, inform and persuade both public opinion and government agencies and institutions. Interprets internal or external issues relating to COLDA’s initiatives and recommends best practices. Use a broad perspective to identify innovative solutions. Recommend and direct the development of campaign strategy, goals, activities and timelines. Recommend publicity releases and ensure successful completion of promotional activities. Integrate relevant methods and media such as TV, radio, Internet, press, social networks or flyers. Maintain key contacts and relationships with relevant individuals and agencies, ranging from media to government representatives. Track media budget and develop metrics to assess effectiveness of the programs. Advice the COLDA Board on status or action required in connection with existing and potential programs and campaigns. Works well in a volunteer team environment.
Fund Raising Liaison
Looking for an individual with a successful track record in raising money to support off leash area development and maintenance, as well as other COLDA initiatives. Has previous success in marketing sponsorships, special events, fund-raising promotions, public speaking or other means to reach defined audiences and meet specific program objectives... This individual would preferably have existing funding networks and contacts.
Persuasive Writing Reporters/Writers
Need experienced individuals with demonstrated track record of carrying out editorial and writing assignments, ranging from promotional literature to business or funding proposals to informational bulletins, flyers, web content and related materials in support of COLDA goals and initiatives. Work collaboratively with the Board, campaign and communications advisors, and web master to provide concise, persuasive material.
Government/Lobbying Advisor
Need connected, seasoned individual to guide and represent COLDA on legislative and regulatory affairs with elected officials and government officials in regulatory and other agencies and their respective staffs. Monitor progress of legislative and regulatory issues of interest to off leash dog interests and provides analysis to COLDA Board. Work with designated trade and business associations, advocacy groups on political, legislative and regulatory issues of importance to off leash dog park efforts and initiatives regarding state and/or federal government regulations, proposals and/or legislation that are of vital concern to the off leash dog walking public. Develop and maintain credible and professional relationships with legislatures, various heads of state and/or federal agencies and their assistants and staff
Technical Subject Matter Expert Advisors in
- environmental impact analysis,
- dam maintenance and safety
- water: rights, EPA requirements, pressure/speed safety
- Professional off leash dog park management
Analyze and develop solutions to technical problems related to field of expertise: assess environmental impacts, water, dam engineering standards, conditions, and maintenance procedures, or off-leash dog park management. Provide recommendations and advice on topics within the applicable field. Analyzes conditions, reports and findings in the applicable field, as requested and makes recommendations to the COLDA Board.
Social media Administrator
Need knowledgeable individual to establish and maintain a COLDA presence in various Internet social media. The individual demonstrates good judgment in monitoring, screening, generating and responding appropriately to entries in Face Book, Twitter and blogs. Provide status and make recommendations to COLDA Board, as appropriate.
Web maintenance and oversight
For COLDA’s website with purchase capability, need an experienced individual to ensure that COLDA’s web site provide up-to-date and comprehensive information that is easily available to existing and potential stakeholders. Establish and maintain an information architecture that is well organized, user friendly, and presents a consistent look and feel. Coordinate the development, integration, format design and release of content from writers. Analyze the use of Web site content and design; takes steps as necessary and affordable to improve information content architecture and design.
